The SmartBoom system provides automatic control of your spray booms, turning on and off boom sections based on either pre-defined spray zones and/or previous coverage. This reduces costly spraying errors such as skips and overlaps. SmartBoom is designed to augment your Raven SCS440/450/460 or 660 console and provide a complete spraying solution. SmartBoom is designed to meet these needs while operating in the rugged agricultural environment. A front panel display makes configuring and operating the system easy and user friendly.

The SmartBoom system consists of 3 components, which are all required to have a fully-operational SmartBoom System:

• SmartBoom Control Module
• Raven SCS440/450/460 or 660 Controller (with serial interface)
• GPS Receiver (minimum update rate of at least 4 Hz)

The GPS receiver supplies the instantaneous position of the sprayer while the Raven console provides boom status information to SmartBoom. SmartBoom continually monitors the information from the GPS antenna and the console to create an as-applied map of spray activity. If the machine enters a previously sprayed area, SmartBoom determines that the booms should be turned off.

SmartBoom has additional features to allow the user to predefine no-spray field boundary and up to eight no-spray zones for each application job.
