Ag-Chem offers a wide selection of high quality hose from select vendors. There are three criteria by which to select hoses for spray materials. Composition (chiefly liner material), Construction, and Size.

It is most important that the hose liner (and to some extent, the outer tube) be resistant to chemical action of the spray materials. Two materials known to be generally resistant and therefore widely used are EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) and EPDM (ethylene propylene dione monomer). Both are suitable for most spray chemicals, but EPDM hose is prefered for use as suction hose for piston pumps because its greater resilience aids in minimizing the effects of pulsation. A hose that is too soft or flexible may collapse if used for suction lines. We offer EPDM hose that is wire reinforced or fertilizer solution hose for suction hose.

Size of hose is important as pressure losses are significant at the flow rates encountered in spraying. Following is a general guide for determining hose size.

Pump Output----Suction Hose------Discharge Hose
Under 12 GPM-----------3/4"---------------------5/8"
12 - 25 GPM---------------1 "----------------------3/4"
25 - 50 GPM-------------1-1/4 "--------------------1"

Where hoses longer than 10 feet are used, refer to the chart below to determine the pressure loss that will be encountered for each hose size and length.
